CIRCOLIVE: Developing skills for introducing circular business models and digital technologies in olive oil sector
The Circolive project aims to support the EU's transition to a Circular Economy by enhancing the circular business skills in the olive oil sector across Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The focus is on promoting circular entrepreneurial models for waste and by-product valorization throughout the entire olive oil value chain. By boosting adaptation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) provision to emerging circular business skills needs, the project shapes responses to Circular Economy transition within the olive sector.
The VET provision in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain is tailored to equip individuals with emerging circular business skills, addressing the transition to a circular economy in the olive sector. This initiative aims to prevent skills mismatches by enhancing the competences of at least 350 individuals in circular business models, digital skills, and entrepreneurship, thereby boosting their employability. Additionally, at least 250 staff and owners of micro and small enterprises may strengthen their skills in implementing circular business models and fostering innovation. The project facilitates knowledge exchange between educational institutions, research bodies, public sectors, and enterprises, promoting holistic circular business models for olive waste and by-product valorization. Enhanced cooperation among labor market actors lead to collective actions and economies of scale. Raising awareness among stakeholders and policymakers potentially improve strategies and policies for skills development. Open educational materials are accessible across Europe, and the project enhances services for rural tourism and ecotourism. The results could be transferred to other regions, amplifying the project's impact. Innovative training programs focusing on circular economy principles are delivered through traditional and e-learning platforms.
The Circolive project benefits farmers, cooperatives, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and professionals in the olive sector by enhancing their skills in circular business models. VET providers gain updated curricula to address emerging skills needs. Public authorities, policymakers, and stakeholders in education, agrifood, agriculture, and employment sectors receive tools to develop effective policies. Civil society, academia, and research institutes benefit from increased collaboration and knowledge exchange. Finally, the wider public and media gain greater awareness and understanding of sustainable practices in the olive oil sector.
The Contracting Authority of the project is the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
The project is designed to be completed in 36 months, with component phases being completed within this time. The total eligible costs are estimated at 1.578.576,00 €
