Provision of a 7-week advanced training for 28 Chinese dairy husbandry advisors, in dairy management techniques, enabling them to experience, at first hand, the conduct of successful dairy farming and its associated services according to EU related norms. The training took place in Ireland with the participation of Teagasc. Training included (i) classroom teaching in all aspects of dairy farming within the premises of Multyfarnham Agricultural College, (ii) field visits to private farms and research farm facilities, (iii) farm-based practicals on animal husbandry skills, and (iv) introduction to the environmental aspects of dairy farming, including audits of nutrients and pollutants. During the training period, the participants had the opportunity to be introduced to disease control procedures, necessary to prevent the epidemic outbreak.
